The Legal Services Board (LSB), in collaboration with Clifford Chance, invites you to an in-person breakfast event
The Legal Services Board (LSB), in collaboration with Clifford Chance, invites you to an in-person breakfast event to discuss the LSB's new research on the experiences of legal professionals from underrepresented groups trying to get into, feel part of, and succeed in the legal profession.
The study – 'The lived experiences of legal professionals: Barriers to getting in, being in and getting on' – gives voice to existing evidence of inequality and inequity in the profession. It also suggests there may be features, traditions and practices particular to the legal services sector that may hamper efforts to create a more diverse and inclusive profession. The event will focus on how the sector uses this research to tackle the barriers that lawyers face every day.
Attendees will also hear from law firm Clifford Chance about their experience implementing EDI initiatives at their firm using a Theory of Change methodology - a specific and measurable description of the change they want to achieve. Their approach can be applied in organisations of all sizes across the profession. Bridging the Bar, recipient of the Equality and Diversity award at Birmingham Law Society’s 2023 Legal Awards, will also talk about its work to increase equality of opportunity at the Bar. The charity helps aspiring barristers from underrepresented groups and backgrounds advance their careers.
