Before you make that call
In a previous role I would regularly receive cold calls, everything from stationery to solar panels! What often amazed me was how little research had been carried out before picking up the phone.
The call I remember most was an enthusiastic young chap who was trying to get me to meet his sales manager so he could demo the latest telecoms solutions. He just wouldn’t take no for an answer.
So, is there still a place for telesales campaigns in a professional services sales & marketing strategy?
In short I believe there is, but make sure you follow the 3 ‘R’s :
‘Research’ your market thoroughly, target the right organisations and understand their business. There is no excuse today with the power of Google.
‘Rehearse’ and re-rehearse your script, make sure it will get their attention and say something of interest. The first 20 seconds are crucial.
‘Review’ progress and be prepared to change your message. Remember everyone is different.
